Audit Trail

Acquire must be in Admin mode to perform these steps.

Acquire downloads the audit trail from each flow computer on the system.

The Audit Trail Preferences screen allows the audit trail settings to be configured.

1. Select ‘Server Preferences…’ from the ‘Admin’ menu

2. Click ‘Audit Trail’ in the left column

The following settings are available:

Enable Audit Event Polling Allows polling for audit events in the flow computers to be suspended.
Audit Modbus Server Writes Some PLCs or Modbus Clients write their values to Acquire even if the value has not changed. This can generate a huge amount of meaningless audit event data. To filter out this data untick the ‘Audit Modbus Server Writes’ checkbox. By default this option is enabled.
Audit OPC Server Writes Some OPC Clients write their values to Acquire even if the value has not changed. This can generate a huge amount of meaningless audit event data. To filter out this data untick the ‘Audit OPC Server Writes’ checkbox. By default this option is enabled.
Filter Audit Trail to current station by default Clicking this checkbox will restrict the audit trail to only show audit events for the currently selected station.
Sample Period (Seconds) The ‘Sample Period’ sets how often the flow computers should be polled for new events. Increasing this value will lessen the load on the flow computers but will increase the amount of time between an event being raised on the flow computer and being picked up by Acquire. Decreasing the sample time will improve the response time between an event being raised and being picked up by Acquire but put a slight overhead on the flow computer. When Acquire detects a new event it will download the new event from the flow computers audit trail. The default audit trail sample period is 5 seconds.
Keep Audit Events Acquire maintains a database of all audit trail events. By default it will keep the audit trail within the database for 30 days. After this time the audit events are removed from the database. Note: Acquire also writes the Audit Events to a text file on the disk. This audit trail can be found in /Acquire/Logs/Audit Trail. An audit trail file is kept for each day and is never deleted. These files can be archived on to a CD and safely removed from the system
