By default, everything that Acquire needs is installed in the C:\Acquire folder. This folder can be dragged into another location on the server or onto a different machine.

These are the most important files:

Acquire.EXE

Default location: C:\Acquire\Acquire.exe

The Acquire.EXE file is the main program. Double click this file to launch Acquire.

Acquire.4DD

Default location: C:\Acquire\Database\Acquire.4DD

The Acquire.4DD file is where the configuration and data is stored. It is located in the ‘Database’ folder along with files called Acquire.4DIndx and Acquire.Match. These are the only files that need to be backed up.

Acquire.key

Default location: C:\Acquire\Acquire.key

The Acquire.key file unlocks the features available in Acquire. The key file must be installed in the main Acquire directory. Acquire will manage the installation of the key.

Webfolder

Default location: C:\Acquire\Webfolder

The webfolder contains all the image files that are used by the web server. Custom theme folders must be installed into this folder and selected from the server preferences screen.

Backups Folder

Default location: C:\Acquire\Backup

It is strongly recommend that you backup the data files regularly. Copy Acquire.4DD, Acquire.4DIndx and Acquire.Match into a subfolder called ‘yymmdd Acquire.4DD’ so that they can be identified easily.

Tip: The backup folder can be put on a different volume. If you do this create a shortcut to it in the default backup folder.

Backups can also be performed automatically.

Logs Folder

Default location: C:\Acquire\Logs

The Logs folder is created the first time that Acquire is run.

Each log channel has its own subfolder. A log file is created for each log channel for every day that the system is running.

Reports Folder

Default location: C:\Acquire\Reports

The Reports folder is also created the first time that Acquire is run.

It is highly recommended that the reports folder is created on a different volume.

Note: If the Reports folder is created on a different volume, create a shortcut to it in the default folder.
