N.B. This must be performed on the server.
1. Edit the field
2. Click the ‘Edit’ button next to the ‘Field Type’ field (or select “Custom” from the ‘Field Type’ popup menu) to define a new field type
This only needs to be done if the RTU has a field type that does not appear in the default list.
3. Set the ‘Data Type’ field to match the field in the RTU
Note: Choices for the next options in this section will vary depending on the type of field selected.
4. Specify the fields as follows:
| Number of Bits | The number of bits to use for the register. This is only used for integer, floats or doubles. |
| Number of Bytes | The number of bytes to use for the register. This is only used for strings. |
| Number of Registers | The number of registers to use for the Modbus address. This is normally set to 1. |
| Reverse Byte Order | This checkbox indicates whether the bytes in the register should be reversed. The bytes are not normally reversed. |
| Reverse Register Order | This checkbox indicates whether the register order should be reversed. The registers are not normally reversed. |
| Signed | This checkbox indicates whether the integer should be signed or unsigned. It only applies to integer fields. |
